We are thrilled to be, once again, producing the East Anglian Daily Times Business Awards at Trinity Park on Thursday 9th July. The awards, now in their 18th year, aim to recognise the best in entrepreneurial endeavour and business practice across the EADT’s circulation area.

For the fourth year running the joint main sponsors of the awards are EDF Energy and Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, which are working in partnership to ensure that local firms are able to derive maximum benefit from the planned Sizewell C nuclear power station development.

Last year we were tasked by the team at Archant to create an event that would evolve the business awards and help to place them as the business event of the calendar year. Part of this process was to ensure the audience of finalists and sponsors recognised the increased efforts being focused on stage design, and production values. Feedback from the 2014 was extremely positive, and work is being finalised to create a night when the business community of Suffolk will join together to celebrate the achievements of the business community.

Former BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Terry Baxter, who is now chief executive of Inspire Suffolk and chairman of Ipswich Central, will again be hosting the black-tie gala presentation evening.

Guest speakers at the event will be brothers Barry and Henry Chevallier Guild of cider maker Aspall, based near Debenham, which won the overall Business of the Year title at last year’s EADT Business Awards. They will be telling the story of how a family-owned business based in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, with roots going back nearly 300 years, has transformed itself into a national, and even international, brand.

EADT editor Terry Hunt said:

“The EADT would like to extend its thanks to EDF Energy and Suffolk Chamber for their continued support, and also to all our other category sponsors, many of which have also been supporting the awards for many years while others are new for 2015.

“I am thrilled that the number of entries for this year’s awards has broken all records. The judges have had a more difficult task than ever in narrowing down the entries to just three finalists in each category and all those businesses which have made it through to this stage can feel proud of their achievement.”
